Jaws of Satan

about

This is our "black metal" track for the album, which has a companion "death metal" track about jaguars. When we started to collect field recordings, we found that alligators and crocodiles had some really interesting vocalizations, many of which sound exactly like a black metal or death metal singer, but we thought black metal alligators was funnier at the time. Thus, the original title of this one when it was first finished in 2009 was Transylvanian Alligator Hunger. That was obviously stupid, and though we played it live under that title a few times, we decided to make it more serious as our direction changed, and it was retitled "My Mud Thy Tomb." At the time the ideas of Satanism were there but quite vague, and then we came across a lot of samples that made it sound more like a Satanic cult of alligators, so the title you see here was just decided on in 2016 to fit that idea and it comes directly from a film by the same name, though it has nothing to do with alligators.
