La Hiena Destructora

from Predator by Comparative Anatomy

about

This song was first conceived around 2010 and was one of the last we worked on, though we abandoned it and wouldn't finish it until later. We wanted to develop something very fast, exploiting the speed of the drums, but the original version was too much of a mess and we scrapped it. It was first called "I Love Byena Hyena," and I'm sure the humor should be obvious, though it's not really funny. We thought it was, but over time as we became more serious about the second album we decided to have the song revolve around the theme of vigilantism, with a hyena shooting and blowing up things, and then we completely rewrote sections of it until it was essentially an entirely new song. This is the fastest song on the album and was the most difficult to record because of the speed of the riffs, which had to be perfect to match the drumming and sample loops.
